Oral cancer is the most common form of cancer and cancer-related deaths among Indian males. 70-75% of these cases are due to chewing tobacco. Estrogen and testosterone both are an important hormone for male and female. Estrogen has an important role in the development of breast cancer, ovarian cancer etc. There are very few studies available which describe the increased oral cancer incidence and level of estrogen in male oral cancer patients and use of smokeless tobacco consumption among the same type of cancer patients. Therefore, the present study has been aimed to find out the prevalence of oral cancer due to consumption of smokeless tobacco, sub-site distribution and level of estrogen in the oral cancer patients in Bihar. In the present study 126 patients suffering from oral cancer were selected randomly. The background data obtained were categorized into sex-wise as well as age-wise oral cancer incidence, carcinoma site, frequency of oral cancer and the type of tobacco addiction among the surveyed oral cancer patients. Estrogen level in male oral cancer patients was assessed by ELISA-kit method. Addiction of khaini among all of the smoke and smokeless tobacco consuming persons in Bihar was found higher. Prevalence of oral cancer was four times higher in male patients than the female and the level of estrogen hormone in male oral cancer patients were found elevated. In conclusion, high oral cancer incidence has been observed among people of Bihar. Most popular form of smokeless tobacco is khaini mainly used by illiterate people. Elevated level of estrogen hormone in male oral cancer patients may be associated with the increased incidence of oral cancer among people of Bihar. It may further provide some evidence to understand the whole mechanism of oral cancer. Keywords

Dividend decision refers to the quantum of profits to be distributed as dividend among the shareholders. It involves the decision to pay out earnings to the shareholders or to retain them for reinvestment in the firm. There is a reciprocal relationship between retained earnings and cash dividends i.e. larger retentions mean lesser dividends whereas smaller retentions imply larger dividends. As the firm has to balance between the growth of the company and the distribution to the shareholders, the amount of dividend payable to the shareholders depends upon the kind of dividend policy being pursued by the company.
Dividend Policy is one of the most important financial policies, not only from the view point of the company but also from that of shareholders, the consumers, the workers, and the government. Value of the corporate securities depends to a great extent on dividend. It was literally said on Wall Street, "the purpose of a company is to pay dividends". Today, the investor's view is a bit more refined; it could be stated, instead, as, "the purpose of a company is to increase my wealth."
The study is mainly based upon secondary data which has been collected from annual reports of companies, related websites and PROWESS database. The study covers the period of ten years i.e. 2002-2012 and consist the sample of 342 companies from BSE-500 index. First the sample has been categorized into various classes of payers and then the relationship between a firm's dividend policy and its earnings was examined with the help of Lintner's Model.

Recent years have seen a sudden surge in an array of cognitive dysfunctions such as decline in memory, distraction in attention, lack of concentration, and other attention related disorders. Stressful lifestyle in this competitive world may be the ischolar_main cause. Modem therapeutics though has a spectrum of drugs for the management of cognitive dysfunctions, but they are having serious side effects and habit forming nature. Therefore, in the last few years, there has been an exponential growth in the field of herbal medicine, and these drugs are gaining popularity in both developing and developed countries because of their natural origin and less side effects. Present study is also aimed at exploring the role of Shankhapushpi, a herbal plant in attentional processes. A pre-post, placebo-controlled, double-blind, two groups design was used. Sample was selected from college going student volunteers, belonging to an age group of 19-25 years. Total 50 subjects were contacted and tested upon their span of attention. 30 subjects having a moderate span of attention were selected and divided into 2 groups of 15 Ss each. One group was experimental group, in which the subjects received Shankhapushpi powder (3.5 gm per day with honey followed by aglassofmilk) for 10 days. Other group was the control group, administered with the same dose of ordinary powder (made with coriander, spinach, fenugreek etc.) in the same manner. Two types of attentional processes i.e. Alternating, and Divided were taken. The subjects were tested on these tasks before starting the administration of both powders and immediately after stopping the administration. Obtained scores were analyzed by using't' test. The results indicated that ten days administration was not sufficient to leave a significant impact of Shankhapushpi on any type of attention. Higher doses need to be tested before drawing any generalization. Keywords

The aim of this study was to examine the knowledge and perception of menopause among middle age women aged 45-55 years. A focus group discussion (qualitative study), where information about individual experiences, subjective description of the severity of the symptoms and other relevant socio economic data was gathered. The participants were asked questions regarding the basic knowledge about menopause and the problems associated with it. After the analysis the result shows that women are unaware of symptoms during middle age and this effect can be due to lack of knowledge about the menopausal symptoms and hence they were struggling to cope with the bio-psychosocial changes and problems. Keywords

The main objective of the paper is to investigate the specific personality factors which are making impact on the college adjustment level of new students. Personality keeps on varying at different age levels. Adolescent is the age which shows maximum variation in personality especially when we move from school to college. During this time, an individual make important life decisions, develop their personal and professional identities, interests and values, and evolve from adolescence to adulthood. Hence, it is very important for an individual to adjust well in college. College adjustment by each student will vary depending on background, experience, and prior schooling. In order to investigate the above mentioned objective investigator collected the sample of 160 first year students from Amity University, Gurgaon. The measures used were NEO-FFI-3 and College Adjustment Scale (CAS). Keeping in view the nature and purpose of the study investigator applied regression and t-test. Analysis result show that three factors are playing significant role in college adjustment i.e. neuroticism, openness and conscientiousness. High level of neuroticism leads to lower level of college adjustment and Individuals high in Openness to Experience and Conscientiousness have consistently demonstrated better overall adjustment to college life than students who score low. Keywords

Vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) is a network that allows mobile communication between road side to vehicle and vehicle to vehicle. In this paper, a brief introduction of VANETS, its protocol structure, broadcasting, and information dissemination has been discussed. Different types of routing & communication protocols like vehicular collision warning communication (VCWC), vehicle heading based routing protocol (VHRP) and routing protocol related to VANETs has also been discussed. The crosslink removal technique by GEOCROSS routing protocol has been reviewed. But that algorithm is not able to remove the cross edge problem. So, to overcome that problem new algorithm has been proposed in this paper. Keywords

With the recent advancements in technology, it is expected that the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) will be used in most of the commonly used applications which include consumer electronics, PC peripherals, home automation, home security, personal healthcare, toys and games, intelligent agriculture. In this paper, we explore the applicability of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) in a real life context such as for modern agricultural approach to monitor and control soil moisture, soil fertility level and pest growth. Based on a detailed exploration of information needs, we design a series of precise use cases, provide system design, implementation and present a simulation including an interface to wireless sensors for amateurs. We suggest automation of environment monitoring and control, and of tasks that would demand too much time and resources if manually done. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) consisting of nodes with limited power are deployed to gather useful information from the field. In WSNs it is critical to collect the information in an energy efficient manner. Using Ant Colony Algorithm we try to make the aggregation energy efficient. Keywords

One of the key features of a microprocessor is to interact with and control peripheral devices. These input/output interfaces may be DMA, UART, SPI, CAN, memories, ADCs/DACs, and interrupt controllers etc. In order to interface with such devices, almost all microprocessors have dedicated interfaces that can be programmed as input or output according to user applications. Nowadays, most widely used digital interface for data handling in microprocessor is General Purpose Input/ Output (GPIO) Coprocessor. GPIO coprocessors relieve microprocessor of responsibilities of handling various input/output interfaces and in the meantime perform other meaningful computations. In this research work, a GPIO coprocessor IP core has been designed and functionally verified. The performance analysis of GPIO has been performed using different priority implementation techniques. The priorities of the different peripherals that are interfaced with the GPIO interfaces are configurable using arbitration technique. The arbitration techniques used are static fixed priority, TDMA based, and centralized arbiter with dynamic priority. The GPIO IP core has been analyzed with and without an arbitration algorithm. The delay for executing with or without arbitration is computed. The design is described using Verilog HDL and verified using Xilinx ISim simulator. The delay for the GPIO module using centralized arbiter with dynamic priority is 10.557 ns. The delay computed for the static fixed priority is less as compared to TDMA based and centralized arbiter with dynamic priority i.e. 8.357 ns. The simulation results validates that by using suitable arbitration algorithm as per requirement of application, the performance of coprocessor IP core can be enhanced by 21%.Keywords

The name of Seth shows the image of a learned person who has experience of different parts of the world. He is dexterous in both poetry and prose. The present research paper throws a light on the use of humour and satire in Vikram Seth’s fictional works.
Seth is a prolific writer who sees the world in its real form. He skillfully depicts the characters through brilliant and witty conversation. They are charged with pathos, irony and humour. He is a mellow satirist but he does not use his satire to show the follies of his characters. He uses satire to make his characters realize their follies so that they can improve. He aims satire generally at social problems. Seth’s satire undoubtedly emanates from his traditional outlook, and his penchant for older writer viz. Pope, Swift and of course, the Victorians. But the main canvas of the irony evinces Seth’s Indian origin coupled with his originality in successfully combining tradition with modernity.
Seth creates humour by emphasizing some small insignificant details. Seth’s humour predominantly the humour of situation coupled with the somewhat endearing neuroticism of the characters. A tentative definition of the humour through characterization in Seth, is that it is something we get whenever a character makes us laugh by himself or herself. A witty use of sarcasm in a narrative based on heightened passion displays Seth’s unique hold on his subject. He has different shades of humour in his novels. In all his novels the characters are presented only in vignettes and as they push the story forward, Seth adds a touch of sardonic humour by inserting the authorical voice. The style is ideal, both for the medium, which demands levity and wit to keep it from sinking into a maudlin formlessness. Seth’s wit is razor - sharp and it never crosses the limitation of good taste. The use of animals such as a CAT and DOG as characters in Seth’s narrative provides a chain of symbols, rising from an expression of the lower vital in man to a craving for higher and quiter satisfaction. In this way, Seth’s irony and humour do not merely keep to realism in justifying a sort of ecological anxiety but also serves as a means of simplifying the experience for suitable caricature to the purpose. It adds an enriching and finishing paradigm to the realism of his portrayal of life.

Retail is a labour-intensive economic activity mid the front-line employees are the major link between the organisation and the customers. Being one of the largest employers of temporary staff the industry is coping with high rates of attrition and this will continue as more players will enter the market and the employees has a greater choice of employers. The study aimed to examine the different determinants of employee attrition in organised retail sector besides suggesting possible remedial measures for managing and reducing employees' attrition in Indian retail industry. The technique of principal component analysis was used which resulted into the extraction of six factors namely Organisational culture/policies. Salary and reward mechanism, Career growth, Promotional and appraisal policies. Senior subordinate relationship and Safety and security measures. The findings of the study revealed that important aspects such as salary, nature of work, working atmosphere, interpersonal relationships and job security were frequently referred by employees as the key issue influencing their retention in the organization. Keywords

In this paper, a review of dynamic means partition based clustering algorithm for time series data is purposed in which a set of unlabeled time-series are partitioned into groups or clusters where all the objects grouped in the same cluster should be coherent or homogeneous. The proposed system is a prediction system to predict the gold market rates based on the history data set. These systems divide the data set in small fragments and process on each data block separately and conclude them as a single unit. Finally a layered neural network is implemented to filter the data and to derive the conclusion.

Privacy Preserving Data Mining (PPDM) in a broad sense has been an area of research since 1991 both in the public and private sector and has also been discussed at numerous workshops and international conferences. Currently the research is mainly directed towards development of technical methods, such as application of cryptography or the development of specialized algorithms to meet security and privacy requirements for different data mining methods, such as classification or categorisation. So far PPDM has found application in only a few cases. One example is documented in medical research to protect patients' privacy In all cases when data mining is applied in the context of personal data, basic data and data mining results have to be collected, stored and processed in compliance with data protection legislation. This results in responsibilities for data controllers, technical operators and others involved in those business or governmental processes where data mining plays a role. Keywords

This paper presents the effect of nanoclay content on structure and mechanical properties of phosphorylated epoxy containing 9,10-Dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPO) as flame retardant. The nanoclay up to 4 wt% was blended with phosphorylated epoxy containing 2.5wt% phosphorus content and molded out after curing. The internal structure of prepared samples was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) methods. The surface morphology was analyzed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). The mechanical properties were measured using Universal Testing Machine (UTM). The results of XRD and TEM reveal mixed type of structure (intercalated and exfoliated) of samples. The mechanical properties (tensile and flexural strength) are found maximum for phosphorylated epoxy sample containing 2.0 wt% nanoclay. Keywords

Marriage is considered as a very important institution around the world and also the most beautiful relationship. Marital adjustment has long been a popular topic in studies of the family, probably because the concept is believed to be closely related to the stability of a given marriage. The definition of marriage varies according to different cultures, but it is principally an institution in which interpersonal relationships, usually sexual, are acknowledged. This states that marital adjustment very much depends upon sexual satisfaction also. The present study examines the association among sexual satisfaction and marital adjustment. Sample of the study considered of 100 working women from Delhi/NCR. Their age ranged between 25-35 years. Revised Dyadic adjustment scale and Satisfaction with the sex life scale is used. Result indicates that there is a significant relation between sex life satisfaction and marital adjustment. Keywords

Attention stands at the forefront of cognition. Without attention abilities, there would be no learning, no perception, no intellectual functioning, and no development of language. Attention enables the individual to gain these experiences. But, recent years have seen a sudden surge in an array of cognitive dysfunctions such as decline in memory, distraction in attention and attention related disorders. Stressful lifestyle in this competitive world may be the ischolar_main cause. Allopathic psychoactive drugs have been the main stay of treating attention related problems in India and the world wide. However, experiences with these drugs have always not been satisfying. The administration of these drugs is very expensive and most often accompanied by side effects like insomnia, mood change, dizziness, respiratory depression, irritability, nausea, rash, and clumsiness etc. Therefore, the whole world is looking towards ancient science of Ayurveda to explore safe, alternative, cost effective treatment as well as reliable cure with no or minimal side effects. Ayurveda largely uses plants as raw material for the manufacture of drugs. Shankhpushpi is believed to be the one such herbal plant that is capable of enhancing all the aspects related to the brain power, such as learning memory, and the ability to recall. Earlier work on this plant conducted by many researchers as well as in our own department clear-cut indicates the memory enhancing potential of this plant. It can be inferred from the memory enhancing potential of this plant that if this plant can enhance memory, it is quite possible that attention also must be getting affected by it. Any improvement in attentional processes would have its implications in improving all other cognitive abilities. Keeping this wide implication in mind, this present piece of work was designed to examine the effect of Shankhapushpi, a herbal plant, on attentional processes. A 2 X 2 double blind, pre post, placebo controlled, parallel group design was employed. Sample was selected from college going students, belonging to an age group of 19 25 years, who were ready to sign informed consent. Total 60 subjects were selected and divided into 4 groups, each having 15 Ss. 2 groups were experimental groups, who received Shankhapushpi powder (3.5 gm per day with honey followed by a glass of milk) for 2 different durations i.e. 10 and 20 days. Other 2 groups were control groups, which were treated with ordinary powder (made with coriander, spinach, fenugreek etc.) with the same dose and in the same manner as experimental groups. Two aspects of attentional processes were tested i.e. Selective and Divided attention. The subjects were tested on these tasks before starting the treatment and immediately after the treatment. The paper will discusses the obtained results in details as analyzed by two-way ANOVA.Keywords

As the responsibilities of women with children are changing with the change in work status, various personal and social issues are surfacing for women. Perceived social support might be considered as one of the factor which could contribute to personal life and relationships. The present study aimed to identify the relation between perceived social support and marital adjustment among working and non-working women. The sample of the study consisted of 100 women (working married women 50, non-working married women 50), age ranging between 28 to 40 years (minimum 5 years of marriage), with at least 1 child. Two tests, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale (RDAS), were administered to the respondents. Data was analysed with the help oft-test and step-wise regression. Results showed that working mothers had higher marital adjustment than non-working mothers. Further, perceived social support, especially from family's side played an important role in developing marital adjustment among women. Keywords

Digital images are a momentous part of today’s digital communication. It is very easy to manipulate digital images for hiding some useful information by image rendering tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Paint etc. The common image forgery which is easy to carry out is copy-move in which some part of an image is copied and pasted on another part of the same image to hide the important information. In this paper we propose an algorithm to spot the copy-move forgery based on exact match block based technique. The algorithm works by matching the regions in image that are equivalent by matching the small blocks of size b×b. The program is tested for 45 images of mixed image file formats by considering block sizes 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16. It is observed from the experimental results that the proposed algorithm can detect copy-move image forgery in TIF, BMP and PNG image formats only. Results reveal that as the block size increases, execution time (time taken by CPU to display output) also increases but the number of detected forged images increases till block size 10 and attains saturation thereafter. Consequently block size should be set to 10 for getting good results in terms of less execution time. Keywords

Academic stress is a mental distress with respect to some anticipated frustration associated with academic failure or even awareness of the possibility of such failure. Selfesteem is that subjective judgment by which people make their potential to face life’s challenges to recognize, understand and also solve the problems, and their right to achieving happiness, and be given respect. The study was undertaken in rural and urban area of Haryana state. Hisar district and village Kharkara was taken in order to meet the sample requirement i.e. 50 adolescents from rural area and 50 from urban area thus making a total sample of 100 adolescents ranging in 16-18 years of age group. The scale used for the study was academic stress scale by Rao (2012) used to assess academic stress and self-esteem inventory by Prasad and Thakur (1977). The finding elucidates that maximum number of respondents have moderate level of academic stress and found significant difference in both rural and urban area.Data regards to self-esteem found that maximum respondents have positive level of self-esteem followed by balanced level and self-esteem was significantly and negatively correlated with academic stress. Keywords
